  • Coach Brad Freitag

    Mr. Freitag received a soccer scholarship to attend Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri.  Mr. Freitag received his teaching degree from Wayne State University.  He has taught at Hillel since 2004 and has coached at least three sports each year.  Mr. Freitag currently coaches boys’ and girls’ soccer and boys’ basketball. Mr. Freitag will receive his Masters Degree in Sports Administration specializing in coaching shortly.  He is married and has two children, James, one, and Brandon, three.
  • Coach David Venning

    Mr. Venning graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. He received a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Michigan in 2006.  Mr. Venning currently teaches 8th grade science and math at Hillel.  He has coached cross-country, boys’ soccer and boys’ tennis and is currently coaching boys’ soccer.  Outside of school, Mr. Venning participates on recreational soccer and ice hockey leagues.  He also enjoys running throughout the year and participating in a variety of different races.  He is the proud father of three beautiful girls.
  • Coach Josh Cutler

    Mr. Cutler graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit with a degree in History and Social Studies Education. He also received a Masters Degree in Coaching Theory/Strategy and Athletic Administration from American Military University. Mr. Cutler has taught Social Studies, U.S. History and World History in the 7-8 Learning Community at Hillel Day School since 2005. Mr. Cutler currently coaches girls’ basketball and boys’ and girls’ tennis at Hillel. He also coaches the intramural flag football and the intramural basketball programs.

    Mr. Cutler’s coaching philosophy is: “Focus on playing well, playing hard, and having fun!”

    Mr. Cutler is a Hillel alum, married to wife Lisa, and has two daughters, Emma and Alexa, currently attending Hillel. Mr. Cutler enjoys reading and studying history in his spare time, especially the U.S. Civil War.
  • Coach Laura Gittleman

    Ms. Gittleman began playing competitive tennis in high school and began coaching at her first teaching job in Maryland where she coached the co-ed varsity tennis team.  Ms. Gittleman began coaching the Hillel boys’ tennis team in 2012 and looks forward to continued success.
  • Coach Nancy Croitori

    Mrs. Croitori graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor in Science Degree from the School of Education. She double majored in Physical Education and Dance.  An avid runner, Mrs. Croitori has completed many half marathons and other local running events. She has shared her love for running coaching our cross country team since 1998, and Hillel's running/fitness club for five years.
  • Coach Steve Jones

    Mr. Jones has coached girls’ soccer, basketball, volleyball and golf, boys’ soccer and golf, and intramural golf since 2002 at Hillel.  In addition, Mr. Jones has coached boys’ baseball, girls’ softball, and junior golf clinics at other schools.  Mr. Jones participates in local golf competitions and has fitted and assembled golf clubs for personal use and for other golfers.
