Farber Family IDEA Collaborative

At Hillel, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) education is mindfully woven into the curriculum, giving students multiple frameworks in which to explore and master concepts. Thanks to a transformative gift by the William and Audrey Farber Family in 2014, our IDEA Collaborative facilitates the dynamism of the STEAM approach to learning.

The IDEA Collaborative includes a MakerSpace, proto-typing lab, greenhouse, flexible gathering spaces, green screen technology and 3D-printing capabilities. It gives our students and educators the inspiring environment and extraordinary tools necessary for our children to gain needed 21st-century skills in critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity.
Here, students manipulate technology, electronics and textiles to apply their knowledge through making, tinkering and exploring, using the skills Hillel teaches to create new solutions to problems ranging from potholes to hunger.
In the IDEA Collaborative the multiple intelligences our students display come to life. The student who is gifted with her hands, as she concretizes concepts through project-based learning, is as gifted as the student who excels in math class. Every student finds his passion and drives his own instruction. Every student has endless opportunities for self-expression.
