Hillel welcomes Jewish children from all affiliations. We strive to ensure that all children, regardless of their individual observance, can feel at home at Hillel and participate comfortably in school activities.

It’s not necessary for parents to either read or speak Hebrew in order for their children to be successful Hillel students.

The break-up of the school day varies by grade. In Kindergarten, for example, GS teachers remain with students the entire day while JS teachers join the classroom. In 1st-8th grades, students alternate between GS and JS classes with block scheduling.

For students in 4th grade and below, enrichments such as art, music, gym, library and science are scheduled several times throughout the week.

Hillel's Kashrut policy ensures that all of our students will feel comfortable at school. All food and snacks that students bring to school must be kosher, and may only be dairy or parve (foods that are neither dairy nor meat, such as eggs and tuna fish). Meat products, even if kosher, may not be brought into the school.

Kindergarten through 8th grade students can pick from a robust slate of extracurriculars. Offerings vary by season, but some recent extracurriculars include:

• Pickleball
• Drumming
• Baking, Science and Nature clubs
• Ninja classes

Starting in 4th grade, students are eligible to participate in Hillel’s theater program, which culminates in a musical every spring.

In grades 5-8, students can participate in a full range of team sports, including soccer, basketball, tennis, volleyball and cross-country. Hillel teams compete against other local public and private schools. 

There’s also an intramural sports program, with offerings varying by season.

Hillel’s strong academic foundation prepares students for both public and private high schools. Many students choose to continue their education at the Frankel Jewish Academy, but plenty of graduates opt for another private or public school. 

Thanks to a parent-led initiative started in 2026, there is currently bus transportation to and from the Huntington Woods area. The bus can accommodate five-point harnesses for smaller children.
